This new thematic guided tour proposed by the Tourist Office as part of the 500th anniversary of RenaissanceS in the Centre-Val de Loire region allows visitors to discover the Renaissance buildings and elements visible in the historic centre of Châteaudun and to evoke the city's culture, religion and activity during this period.
The route allows you to admire beautiful old houses and the castle which has a magnificent staircase from the first French Renaissance. The visit then takes us to the Saint-Valérien church where some very beautiful 16th century stained glass windows were transferred to the Revolution. By the way, the tour also shows that Renaissance architecture inspired architects in Châteaudun in the 19th century through neo-Renaissance architecture.
At the end of the visit, the group will be invited to head to Hôtel-Dieu to visit two exhibitions on the theme of the Renaissance visible in the municipal archives.
