"This is Leonard, you will be free to dream, think and work" This programme imagines the encounter between Leonardo da Vinci and the emblematic Renaissance river. The musical atmosphere of the Loire, captured by the naturalist Boris Jollivet, will echo the famous works sung by the Ensemble Jacques Moderne. An original and talented showcase for Renaissance composers.
Eternal and even timeless, the symphony, mixed with nature and human works, reveals a rich universe that also shines beyond our local borders. The turning point of the digital revolution may seem far from these aesthetic concerns. Yet, it appears to be a formidable opportunity to make people hear, discover, rediscover and admire a heritage that is not destined to be frozen. Music, in particular, has everything to gain by bringing its works to life through new interpretations, new media and constantly renewed modalities.
It is in this sense that the Ensemble Jacques Moderne, as part of its programming, also intends to promote creation through a sound overture created by the audio-naturalist Boris Jollivet, which will be interspersed with musical pieces.
Organized according to vocal works, the relationship between Renaissance music and the true sounds of nature thus makes it possible to establish a multifaceted dialogue (acoustic music and recorded digital “music”, history and future, nature and culture), and invites today’s public to take a different look at the works, while (re)discovering the sounds of our natural environment.
For Joël Suhubiette, “it is therefore, in this musical journey, a new source of sound, a poetic imagination that is added to the very abstract beauty of music”.
