This operation contributes to the dynamics of the “500 years of Renaissance(S)”, by offering visitors an original experience of (re)discovering the regional gastronomic heritage.
This operation is proposed by the Region, in association with the European Institute of History and Food Cultures (IEHCA of Tours), which has prepared a book of 25 recipes and dishes of the Renaissance and written a notice “To understand French cuisine during the Renaissance”.
This recipe booklet, distributed on the Region’s stand at the International Agricultural Show, was a great success with visitors.
A call for applications was launched from 28 January to 11 March 2019 to traditional restaurants in the Centre-Val de Loire, to encourage them to offer their customers à la carte dishes and/or menus inspired by the Renaissance, in order to be part of the dynamics of the “Viva Leonardo” operation and to offer visitors a taste experience.
The restaurateur must respect the “Homemade” criterion, i.e. a cuisine mainly made from raw products and, for the main ingredients of the dishes, fresh and seasonal.
The offer must be made at least from May 1 to September 30, 2019, some will extend the offer until the end of the year celebrations.
