The Berry Green Lentil has been selected as representative of the 500 years of the Renaissance by the historian of the Centre Val de Loire Region. Indeed, the writings prove that lentil soup was available on the menus at that time!

Created in 1994 by a handful of farmers, CIBELE promotes the Berry Green Lentil, the first dry vegetable to obtain a Label Rouge in 1996 and a PGI in 1998.
Production is carried out in a precise appellation area, 44 communes of Indre and 5 of Cher, in compliance with the established specifications.
The Berry Green Lentil is recognizable by its sweet chestnut flavour, but also by its excellent cooking resistance and sorting quality.
